You may find this odd but copper triggers a vibrant memory of tomato sauce bubbling over a rustic stove top — its spicy aroma trailing through my Nonna’s Abruzzo kitchen. Whether her padella (pot) of choice came from traditions passed on from her own grandmother or just an Italian statement, the love affair between her popular spaghetti al sugo and her copper pot is enduring.
I have numerous inspiration boards for my future kitchen. Lately I’ve been toying with the idea of one single copper pot. Not only to cherish the memories I have cooking with my grandmother but for the basic fact that, when used delicately, copper adds a touch of regal to the simplest shelf.
